YouTubers: How do you grow?

I'm curious about the habits you've formed to help grow your channel.

I help a family member run a YouTube channel, and they get a lot of constructive feedback in the comment section. But I know some channels have a lot of random stuff that acts as noise. Is there an easy way to filter out and respond to the most sincere comments?

I've mocked up a tool idea to do three things that help me the most:

  1. The overall sentiment of the comment section per video. (e.g. % positive, neutral, negative)

  2. Achievements so I can celebrate the wins. This could be determined by consistent comments of appreciation or some YouTube milestones reached

  3. A checklist of "todos" generated based on the constructive feedback of viewers

Does this make sense, generally, for all channels? What things have you found incredibly helpful for growing your channel?

Growing your YouTube channel takes time and effort, so keep creating great content, engaging with your audience, and promoting your channel, and you will see your channel grow 100% over time.

    Some tips i found useful:

    • Create interesting and engaging content
You need to make sure that your videos are engaging and entertaining. Invest in good equipment to ensure that your videos are well recorded, interesting, and spend time editing your videos to make them the best they can be.

    • Stay up-to-date with trends
Keep an eye on trending topics and incorporate them into your content when appropriate. This can help you attract new viewers who are interested in those topics.

    • Optimise your videos for search
Use relevant keywords and tags in your video titles and descriptions to help your videos rank higher in search results.

    • Use social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter to share and promote your YouTube channel and interact with your audience.

A great youtube channel will appropriately spend time in the comments, reply, and use the comments to fuel some future content. Great channels are more of a conversation than just pure content.

for me I use the comments to find out where I had gaps in the content. I do google sheets tutorials. So it's fairly straightforward if I do a step-by-step tutorial and people try it and use it in their sheets. And then there's questions on top of what I covered. or I realize that I didn't clearly state something if I do have the answer in the video and the comments keep asking.

But I'm fairly small so I don't get that many comments. And I realized within the past year that those who comment are rarely buyers of my product, so I haven't really spent much much time there. I did for a while try to optimize my content to get more comments. Literally asking for comments. And nothing happened. Total apathy.

My overall strategy doesn't include any thing specific for comments right now, but I do spend about 10-30 minutes a week answering comments.

In my short experience of running a YouTube channel, I believe consistency is the most important key in growing a your channel. But I also do believe that micro distribution of your content also plays a key role in the growth. Redirecting traffic from various platforms to your channel can prove to be really beneficial.
Though as mentioned by everyone else, these tasks do take a lot of time and effort.

If you're a YouTuber looking to grow your channel, here are some tips that may help:

Consistency: One of the most important things you can do is to be consistent with your content. This means posting regularly and on a schedule that your audience can rely on.

Quality: Producing high-quality content that engages your audience is key. Invest in good equipment, take the time to edit your videos, and focus on providing value to your viewers.

SEO: Optimize your videos for search engines by using relevant keywords in your titles, descriptions, and tags. This will make it easier for people to find your content when searching for related topics.

Collaboration: Collaborate with other YouTubers in your niche or related industries to cross-promote each other's channels and grow your audience.

Engagement: Engage with your audience by responding to comments, asking for feedback, and encouraging viewers to subscribe and share your content.

Promotion: Promote your channel on other social media platforms, your website, and through email marketing. This will help you reach a wider audience and grow your channel.

Analytics: Use analytics tools to track your performance and see what's working and what's not. This will help you make data-driven decisions to improve your content and grow your channel over time.

Remember, growing a YouTube channel takes time and effort. Stay focused, be consistent, and always strive to improve your content and engagement with your audience.
