September 10, 2021 Brand New Episode Builder Release

We tackled one of the biggest user requests since we started - fully flexible episodes. Now users can add theme music at any point in their episodes, add fades and overlaps between any clip and set the length of any media clip. It's working really nicely so far, with some great user feedback!

August 10, 2021 Passed 2500 paying users

Growth is still going well, although certainly a bit of a slowdown on the COVID acceleration last year. Lots of hobby shows are shutting down again, but many more starting up this year. We're seeing the same average number of signups every month, but have been steadily reducing churn, which is helping push growth.

    hi colin

Can you take me through the journey of going from 0 - 100 paying customers, then being able to get to 2500 paying users.

Did you ask your users the same list of questions in each phase & simply doubled down on marketing? or did you have to tweak the questions according to the phase that your startup had reached & did have to get a new cohort of users & asked them questions, then converted them to paying users ? or did you simply convert people who were already non-paying users into paying users?

April 25, 2021 New Feature: Remote Call Recording

This week, we released a remote call recording tool, right inside Alitu. That means that podcasters can now record their interviews right into our app, then have the audio auto-cleaned up, before editing any mistakes, building the episode, and publishing to your host. All in one app.

Amazing to see so many people using Alitu to create their podcasts. Continuing to get most of our growth through content, primarily through thePodcastHost.com, but also getting a lot more organic mentions on other sites, over the past 6 months, as the brand continues to grow.

December 1, 2020 Employed Developer for our dedicated content site

I've been employing developers for our app (Alitu.com) for the past few years, but entirely neglected our content site. Probably because I can do it, just. It's just wordpress after all. But, realised a few months ago that the wordpress site is our top lead channel by miles, and so deserves it's own dedicated resource, and has done for a long time. Just took someone on for this a few weeks ago, and they're already doing great work to redesign our blog templates to encourage lower bounce rates, and more pages per visit. They're looking at navigation and CTAs to make the site more useful and engaging to visitors, and more effective in guiding them to any of our tools that'll help them.

Working a lot on marketing attribution around this time, figuring out what channels are leading to our growth so that we can concentrate on them. We've been trying a lot of different things over the past year, so well worthwhile getting more data into which of them work most effectively. Particularly looking at segmenting down on our content marketing - assessing which content types, which topics, which approaches are leading to the best, most long term customers.

August 1, 2020 Launched Call-recording to beta users

Launched to 100+ early access users to test out the feature, which adds recording to our podcast editing app. Learned that it was worth launching with a very very early version, and users were happy to give tonnes of feedback. We built a few features on top of this to address early concerns, and iterated every month since.

June 1, 2020 Employed First Full-Time Marketing Hire

Time to get some help on the growth side! I've been doing this all along, so far, but need someone who can concentrate on this fulltime. That means more of the technical side, like attribution and PPC, and a lot more on the strategy, refining how we actually go about aquisition.

April 2020 Passed 1000 users

We worked a lot on our content, over the 6 months prior. Refocussing our articles on thePodcastHost.com on our specific target audience, and adding calls to action which highlighted Alitu as a potential solution, but not being afraid to talk about competitors too, to build trust.

About

I got into Podcasting as a hobby, and totally fell in love with the medium. I love the connection it creates with an audience, and the ease with which people can make a difference in the lives of their audience.
