November 13, 2021 AudioCipher hits Top 5 of the Day on ProductHunt

We decided that a launch announcement is better late than never. So a couple months after officially putting out Version 2.0 of AudioCipher, we went ahead and made it public on ProductHunt as well.

Our goal moving forward is to get AudioCipher listed in a variety of High DR software directories and music publications.

It's unclear whether we will continue forward with app development or spend more time building buzz organically through an SEO-informed content strategy.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you're interested in partnering.

This is super exciting! I'm happy to see indie hackers here building audio plugins. Did you build Audiocipher with JUCE?

      Hey there, yes we did!

October 27, 2021 Launched ADSR Halloween Sample Pack

To keep the content moving in a new direction, we decided to showcase what the app can do. Since AudioCipher turns words into music notes, we create a series of audio samples for producers based on spooky Halloween notes. A few dozen people bought the pack, which was on part with expectations.

We released another batch of promotional video content on Youtube and IG to promote the pack. All existing customers were gifted the sample pack for free.

October 1, 2021 Over 1,000 Copies Sold

Thanks to ADSR, we were able to rapidly scale up the number of AudioCipher copies sold. In October we hit our first major milestone with over 1,000 copies sold, roughly 40/60 split between ADSR and our own website. Cost per unit sales was between $10-$22 depending on when the product was purchased and who the affiliate was.

August 8, 2021 Ran first affiliate campaign with music influencer

Shortly after we launched, one of our content partners launched a discount code for his audience. Anyone who used the code during his promo period was counted toward an affiliate revenue share. We sold about 120 copies and broke even on the partnership after everything was said and done.

August 1, 2021 Released AudioCipher V2.0

After collecting lots of customer feedback, we went back to the drawing board. Our designers rebuilt the app to include a rhythm slider and randomization feature. This brought in a second wave of interest from ADSR and also kickstarted a second round of content for us on Youtube and instagram.

April 11, 2021 Launched on ADSR Marketplace

For the first few months, AudioCipher was listed on KVR marketplace and didn't see much engagement. But we were fortunate to get a publishing deal with ADSR and sold 150 copies in our first month with them.

As a courtesy, ADSR's ad team has repeatedly taken out google and instagram ads for our app. These drive customers to both their product page as well as our own site. So while our margins are smaller, there's less risk of money lost on ads.

March 1, 2021 Instagram and Youtube campaigns

For the next six months, AudioCipher made a big grassroots push to connect with real producers and get the app in their hands. We ran ad campaigns across Youtube, Instagram, and Facebook.

Our content was designed to be entertaining, promotional, and educating all at once. There was some light engagement but not big uptake from our audience. Instagram was the most engaged.

January 21, 2021 AudioCipher V1 Launch

Our MVP was incredibly simple. Type in a word, choose a key signature, and drag the phrase into your DAW. By stripping away all the bells and whistles from our competitors, we were able to highlight the one thing that made our app unique.

Lucky for us, people thought the concept was cool. We offered the product up at only $15, making it roughly 1/3rd the cost of competing products. This made it a great entry level tool for new producers - the very people who need help getting started with melodies.

April 14, 2014 Published Astromusik

Astromusik was my first published book on esoteric music theory. It explored the ancient Greek notions of celestial harmony and unveiled a little-known system of correspondence between the Hebrew alphabet, colors, planets, signs, and musical notes.

This correspondence system inspired me to explore musical cryptograms in songwriting and composition
