The problem: this space is getting crowded fast. Every week there's a new "host your AI agent" product launching. Some are VC-backed. Some are open-source with one-click deploy guides. When your potential customer has 10 alternatives a Google search away, your pricing has to justify itself instantly — and mine didn't.

I launched at $30/month. Got traffic, got signups, got zero purchases. People would hit the plans page, probably open a competitor's tab, compare prices, and bounce.

So I tried something simple: I dropped the price to $10/month for early users (locked in forever) and added a clear "regular price: $15/month" anchor next to it.

The funnel after the change

Not earth-shattering numbers, but going from 0 purchases to 6 paying users felt like a huge unlock.

What I think happened

In a flooded market, $30/month for a relatively unknown product is a non-starter. People aren't just comparing you to the DIY option — they're comparing you to every other managed solution out there. At $10, two things change: it becomes an impulse-friendly "let me try this" decision, and you suddenly look competitive against alternatives that charge $20-40 for similar setups. The "locked in forever" framing also creates a reason to pick you now instead of bookmarking and forgetting.

Takeaway for other indie hackers building in crowded spaces

When the market is flooded, your first paying users aren't buying the best product — they're buying the lowest-risk option. A lower early-bird price removes the risk, gets people in the door, and gives you the feedback loop you need to actually become the best option. You can raise prices later when you have testimonials, a track record, and a product that's battle-tested.
