January 15, 2025 How and Why BotProxy started

When I first ventured into large-scale web scraping back in 2016, I quickly realized how challenging it could be. Sites were constantly blocking my IPs, and I had to deal with rate limits and sophisticated anti-bot systems. I experimented with various proxy solutions, but managing a list of rotating proxies manually was a nightmare.

I needed a better way—a streamlined system that could handle IP rotation, session management, and bypass detection mechanisms without breaking a sweat. Out of necessity, I built a solution that did exactly that, and to my surprise, I wasn’t the only one facing these challenges. I shared my tool, and it turned out there was a real demand for it. That’s how BotProxy was born.

BotProxy simplifies web scraping and bot automation by providing a network of datacenter proxies with built-in IP rotation and session control. While it exclusively offers datacenter proxies, I’ve found that if you scrape wisely, that’s often more than enough. These proxies deliver the speed and stability needed for large-scale data extraction, and when paired with BotProxy’s anti-detection mode—which spoofs TLS fingerprints to mimic legitimate browser traffic—they’re remarkably effective at avoiding bans.

One of my key goals with BotProxy was to make it easy to use. You just configure a single proxy in your application, and the system takes care of the rest—rotating IPs, managing sessions, and even offering location targeting for geographically specific data. Whether you’re scraping e-commerce data, tracking prices, or automating web interactions, BotProxy ensures smooth, uninterrupted performance.

Building BotProxy started as a way to solve my own problems, but it’s become a tool that helps countless others tackle the same challenges. It’s a simple, reliable, and powerful solution for anyone navigating the complex world of web scraping and automation.

Edit: yes, the service is still up and running fine :)

I needed to do large scale web scraping and build a solution for that. Tried to sell it and appeared it was in demand. So here we are.
