ChatRelay
Chrome extension that makes ChatGPT feel like it has infinit
Hey Indie Hackers 👋
I recently built and launched ChatRelay, a Chrome extension that fixes one of the most annoying parts of using ChatGPT at scale:
👉 losing context when you hit conversation limits.
🧠 The problem
If you use ChatGPT a lot (writing, coding, brainstorming), you’ve probably hit:
“You’ve reached the limit for this conversation”
Forced to start a new chat
Losing all context or manually copying everything
This breaks flow completely.
⚡ The solution: ChatRelay
ChatRelay automatically bridges the gap between sessions.
When a limit is reached, it:
Captures the full conversation
Opens a new ChatGPT session
Injects the entire context
Displays previous messages inline so it feels continuous
To the user, it feels like ChatGPT just… never stopped.
🔥 What makes it different
Works automatically (no manual copy/paste)
Multi-session chaining (infinite continuation)
Context preserved visually (“ghost messages”)
Fully local (no backend, no tracking)
Works in multiple languages
🧪 Why I built it
I was using ChatGPT for long dev + writing sessions and kept losing momentum every time I hit limits.
So I built something that makes ChatGPT behave like a persistent thinking partner instead of a session-based tool.

About
I built ChatRelay because I was repeatedly frustrated by how ChatGPT handles long sessions. When working on coding, writing, or research tasks, I often hit conversation limits right in the middle of my workflow.
