Chef's Helper

Built by a working chef to replace kitchen paperwork

I started Chef’s Helper because I spent years in kitchens dealing with the same problems every day. Costing sheets on clipboards. Prep lists written on scraps of paper. Rotas scattered across group chats. Allergen logs in spreadsheets that nobody wanted to open. Safety checks done on forms that were always missing when you needed them.

None of it worked well together and none of it felt built for the pace of a real kitchen. I kept thinking there had to be a better way to organise everything, but every tool I tried only solved one part of the job. Nothing brought the whole workflow into one place.

So I began building the app I wished I had when I was working full time on the line. Something simple. Something fast. Something that didn’t get in the way. Chef’s Helper grew from that idea and I’ve been shaping it around real kitchen routines ever since.

I’m sharing the project here because I want to learn from people who have built tools for operational teams or taken niche products from zero to traction. I’m still improving the workflows and preparing for a wider launch, and any insight from others who have been through this journey would help a lot.

About

Kitchen workflows are scattered across paper, spreadsheets and apps that only solve one slice of the job. I built Chef’s Helper to bring everything together in one place.
