Personal Finance made simple
I just launched FinSanta, a finance blog for people who feel like they're behind on money — no savings plan, confusing debt, no idea where the paycheck goes — and are tired of content that assumes you already have your act together.
Why I started it:
Most personal finance content is written for people who are already doing fine. It's optimization advice — "which index fund," "how to save 3% more." But a huge number of people aren't at that stage yet. They're stressed, behind, and Googling things like "how do I even start" at 1am. I wanted a blog that starts there instead of skipping past it.
The name is the whole idea: finance help that feels like someone actually being generous with you, not selling you a course or an affiliate link.
What's live right now:
A no-BS starting point for people with $0 saved and no plan
Breaking down debt payoff without the shame spiral
Why most budgeting apps fail people (and what actually works instead)
What makes it different:
No affiliate stuffing, no "10 hacks" listicles. Just plain explanations of the actual math and reasoning, written by someone who's been on the "behind" side of this, not just reporting on it from a spreadsheet.
I'm still finding the right voice, so blunt feedback is genuinely welcome — especially "this felt condescending" or "this was too basic," since that's the exact line I'm trying to walk.

Happy to answer anything — why I think most finance content fails beginners, what's next for the blog, or just roast the name if you think it's bad 😅

Walking that line between "too basic" and "condescending" is tricky, but the key is just focusing on order of operations. People struggling with money usually aren't dumb, they're just overwhelmed by noise. If you give them a clear 1-2-3 sequence (like: stop the bleeding -> $500 buffer -> highest APR debt) without the lecture, it lands every time. Awesome launch, rooting for this.

The audience definition is the strongest part here. “People who feel like they started too late” is much more specific than simply building another personal finance blog.
