Two years ago I had this thought: Why isn’t there a web version of America’s Got Talent?

Like… why hasn’t someone built that for the internet?

Musicians should be able to compete online regularly for fun. For discovery. For the same reason people play video games or join fantasy leagues.

So I started building Flair: an app where artists join weekly music competitions, fans vote, and one winner is crowned every Friday.

I’m based in Louisville, KY. Before I wrote a single line of code, I interviewed 100+ artists in my city — just asking questions, seeing what people actually cared about (you can find these interviews @flairmediaofficial on instagram).

Turns out: they wanted this. Not as some major career move, but as a way to stay sharp, connect, and maybe even blow up a bit.

I didn’t raise money. I just started learning, shipping prototypes, and forcing myself to talk to users daily.

We’re now in MVP mode. Artists are joining. People are voting.

Biggest takeaway so far?

Don’t overthink the tech. Build distribution first. The app is important, but the energy around it is what makes it real.
