Indiehunt
Launch your product on Indiehunt to get discovered by indies
A launch doesn't have to be a single day.
The usual playbook is:
Build → launch → hope people show up.
But there are so many smaller launch opportunities that it can make more sense to build a sequence.
For example:
Week 1: Pre-launch platform
Week 2: Weekly launch board
Week 3: Niche platform relevant to your audience
Week 4: Another launch/community opportunity
Later: Product Hunt
Each launch becomes a small experiment.
You can learn:
→ Which audience actually cares
→ Which headline converts
→ Which screenshots work
→ What questions people ask
→ Where your traffic comes from
→ Which platforms are worth repeating
That thinking is what led me to build Product Hunt Alternatives:
https://producthunt-alternatives.com/
The site ranks 59 alternative launch platforms and helps founders choose based on audience, SEO, ease, community, cost, and traffic potential.
The bigger idea is:
Don't ask “Where should I launch?”
Ask:
“What should my launch sequence look like?”
How do you approach launches for your products?
When you're building as an indie hacker, "where should I launch?" sounds like a simple question.
It's not.
I started researching launch platforms because I kept seeing the same advice everywhere: Product Hunt, Hacker News, Reddit, repeat.
Those platforms can absolutely be useful, but there are many other launch boards, beta platforms, communities, directories, and product discovery sites that founders rarely talk about.
So I started compiling them.
I ended up researching 70+ platforms and comparing things like:
Traffic / reach
Audience intent
Submission requirements
Backlink and evergreen value
Fairness for new products
AI visibility
Ease of launching
I turned the research into Best Launch Platforms, an independent ranking and comparison resource.
One thing that stood out to me: the platform with the most traffic isn't necessarily the best platform for your product.
A developer tool might get more useful feedback from a smaller technical community than from a huge general audience.
A pre-launch product might be better off building a waitlist before doing a major launch.
And some platforms are much more useful for long-term discovery than for launch-day traffic.
I'm curious what other IH builders have experienced:
What's the most underrated place you've launched a product?
Not necessarily the biggest source of traffic — just the place that gave you surprisingly good users, feedback, or exposure.

I used to think launching was enough.
It wasn’t.
For me the shift was: go where founders already hang out, help them first, and let word of mouth do the rest.

Curious how other IH founders handle this — do you design graphics yourself, hire someone, or skip them?
I noticed most founders either lose hours in Canva or post with generic templates. Built Launch Kit on Aura++ to solve it (9+ custom graphics per launch).

I've now reviewed 18 indie tools across two Aura++ video episodes.
Patterns across the strongest launches:
1. One painful workflow, end-to-end — Seekdown (content → chatbot), PromptMan (prompt → paste in 5s). Not "AI-powered X."
2. Show the output, not the dashboard — AIWriteBook shows the finished book. CreateVision shows the generated video. Proof beats features.
3. Niche positioning wins — Revshare (affiliate attribution), WisGate (cheap LLM routing), Human Write (humanize without losing meaning). Specific beats broad.

Hey IH 👋
Just published a video walking through 12+ platforms where you should consider launching your product.
I see a lot of posts here asking "where should I launch?" or "Product Hunt didn't work for me" — so I made a comprehensive guide covering:
→ Product Hunt (and why it's harder than it looks)
→ BetaList ($39, but you get a dofollow backlink even without users)
→ Peerlist (weekly dev launches)
→ Aura++ (dofollow backlink + blog post + social promo)
→ Indie Hackers (community pitch — meta, I know 😄)
→ Hacker News (4K–5K visitors in a day if you rank)
→ High-DR backlink sites (Startup Fame DR 83, Fazier, LaunchIgniter)
→ Weekly platforms (Early Hunt, Indie Hunt — 7 days homepage)
→ Fazfirst / OpenHunt
No fluff — just honest breakdown of what each platform offers and who it's best for.
Watch here: https://youtu.be/W_QImnQnGn0
Would love to hear:
- Which platform gave you the best results?
- Any platforms I missed that you'd recommend?
More launch guides coming if there's interest 🚀

One thing I love about indie hackers:
They don't wait for permission.
They ship.
A lot of successful products started as:
• Side projects
• Weekend experiments
• Internal tools
• Random ideas that seemed interesting
The difference is that someone decided to launch.
Not once.
Repeatedly.
Every launch teaches you something:
→ What users care about
→ What messaging works
→ What features matter
→ What assumptions were wrong
Shipping creates clarity.
That's why launch platforms matter.
Not because they guarantee growth.
Because they help makers get feedback and momentum faster.
That's what IndieHunt is all about.
What's the most important lesson you've learned from launching a product?

About
We built IndieHunt because launching as an indie maker is still too noisy and unfair. Most platforms favor already-established products with large audiences, making it hard for early-stage builders to get visibility.
