May 1, 2025 Launched waitlist for sister project, thiings.co

I've decided to launch a fun sister project for Liinks, called Thiings!

Thiings will be a free platform that will allow users to showcase the things they love in an infinite grid of cute 3D icons.

I'm still working out the details of the platform, but I've opened up a fun waitlist experience!

Upon joining the waitlist, I'll generate a fun avatar for you based on an uploaded photo, plus you'll get permanently added to our waitlist grid, which will link back to your social media profiles!

Check it out here: https://www.thiings.co/waitlist

October 2, 2024 IndieHackers interview!

This is kind of a meta post, but I just did an interview for Indie Hackers where I shared my story about building Liinks in a competitive market without hustling nonstop.

July 20, 2023 Reached $20K MRR!

Liinks recently crossed $20K MRR!

Over 4200 people pay for my little side project to centralize their online presence 🎉

I’ve learnt a lot since I launched in 2020, so I thought I’d share a few takeaways👇

1/ Validate your idea early 🚀

I launched Liinks on ProductHunt 10 days after starting its development. Validating early that people were willing to pay for Liinks boosted my confidence and provided a tangible metric to measure new feature success against.

2/ Good vs Bad customers 🤝

I've learned to differentiate good and bad customers. Good customers provide valuable feedback that benefit all. Bad customers have specific demands that drain time and energy. Keep the good ones happy while avoiding excessive catering to the bad.

3/ Getting (a bit) distracted is okay 🌟

I like to give myself a few weeks to explore new ideas when they come up. I usually return refreshed and ready to work on Liinks again with new learnings. Embrace distractions, but remember to always come back to your core project.

4/ Don't fall in love with your features 💔

I've shipped features that I thought would be game-changers but ended up flopping. I regularly review my feature set and ruthlessly cut what doesn't work. Avoiding clutter ensures a user-friendly experience. Simplify to amplify.

5/ Keep an eye on your users 👀

One key move I made early on was creating an easy admin interface to explore new profiles. This proved valuable for two reasons: understanding user behavior for feature prioritization and identifying and preventing abuse like spam and scams.

6/ Refactor, but make it thoughtful 🛠️

While new tech is enticing, constant refactoring consumes precious hours. I prioritize thoughtful refactoring when it significantly impedes progress or hampers performance/scalability. Balance wisely within limited bandwidth.

7/ Delegating is hard (for me)🕴️

Time is scarce with side-projects. I've tried delegating for Liinks, but lacked the bandwidth to support collaborators. For now, I handle everything myself. Improving delegation skills is on my agenda, but until then, I prioritize self-reliance.

8/ Slow growth is kind of nice🌱

Liinks will never be a billion dollar business, but if I continue to grow it responsibly, with low costs and high margins, I can generate some real passive income and keep full ownership of the business - without needing to deliver hyper growth.

That's all I've got folks! Stay tuned for more milestones!

XOXO

    inspirational post.

Don't fall in love with your features.

i am guilty of this one, any tips for reducing the bias when you aren't getting lots of feedback from users?

    Love this Charlie.. congratulations

October 10, 2020 Reached $2000 MRR!

It took 4 months to get from $0 to $1000, and less than 2 months to get from $1000 to $2000!

Over the last 2 months we've shipped a bunch of new features, increased our monthly price (for new users) from $3 to $3.99, and spent some time building an onboarding flow to help users get set up.

We've also started running AB tests when making changes, to verify that the changes are indeed affecting conversion rates in a positive way.

    Hey Charlie!
We have done a decent amount of paid marketing on Instagram, and ramped up our activity on social media
What type of paid marketing you used? IG ads, paid posts, collabs? Have you been tracking conversions? Was it profitable?

Congratulations! and keep up the good work :) Would you please share how much is your budget for the paid marketing on Instagram? tnx

August 15, 2020 Reached $1000 MRR!

Almost exactly 4 months after landing our first paid customer, Liinks just passed $1000 MRR! Our Premium plan costs $3/month, so that corresponds to just over 330 paying customers.

Liinks has changed a fair amount in the last 4 months, as we added new features and experimented with which features to keep free, and which to require a Premium plan for.

We also introduced a 14 day free trial, which makes it possible to try out our Premium features for free.

We have done a decent amount of paid marketing on Instagram, and ramped up our activity on social media. We've tried to build relationships with our customers and be responsive when users have questions about the product.

We have a bunch of awesome new features in the pipeline, and can't wait to keep improving Liinks to make it the base bio link tool on the market!

Really awesome to see you guys growing. I remember seeing Liinks on /r/sideprojects and thought this was great and it's been keeping me inspired for my own micro-Saas, which starts at $4/mo.

Thanks for showing that micro-SaaS + recurring subs can reach $1k MRR and cheering for you to hit $10K MRR

April 15, 2020 First Paying Customer! ($3 MRR)

Launched Liinks.co Premium last week and just had our first user upgrade to Premium!

I'm still trying to figure out a good balance between making our free tier compelling enough to clearly be better than Linktree , while making sure the Premium tier provides a reasonable price/value offering that enough users are willing to upgrade.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

February 26, 2020 Launch Liinks on Product Hunt

TLDR: We just launched Liinks on PH. Check it out and upvote here: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/liinks

Liinks has evolved A LOT since I first soft launched it at the end of January. It went from being a super simple tool that allowed you to manage the redirects to a full fledged link management tool, that can essentially be a drop in replacement for links of Linktr.ee etc...

Use Liinks to create and customize an elegant landing page for your links. Connect with Instagram to automatically add links from your post captions to your page. It's simple, fast, and 100% free.

Let me know what you think!
