Really like how you flipped a simple roast into something people can rely on. That mix of humor + utility is rare ... makes the whole thing stick.

Love this write-up it really captures the shift a lot of us feel when moving from playful tinkering to something people actually use vibe coding gets you that spark but context engineering is what keeps it consistent and trustworthy your LinkedInScope example nails that balance funny enough the “joke” projects are often the ones that teach the deepest lessons

" ... profile reads like a student trying to impress their way into a party they weren't invited to"
Ahh that stings, but I can't really complain as it is true. Trying out this web app is very timely as I just updated my profile a few days out of school. It's definitely not for the thin-skinned.
What I liked: it's like having someone say what everyone else is thinking but too scared to say it out loud. I tried it on a few profiles: mine, a mentor, and a publicly praised well-made profile, and the app had something to say for each one.
What I didn't like: very easy to imagine that some people wouldn't have the sense of humour to get the value. There are recommendations for improving your profile, but you do have to scroll a fair bit. By that time, some people might peel off after seeing too many roasts.

An insight into LinkedIn profiles can help with LinkedIn marketing, improving the age-old 0.1-0.5% conversion rates

I built a full product (BrightScanr). I'm looking for a co-founder who can help scale traffic from 0 to 10k MRR. DM me if you’ve got proven growth chops — equity only, no salary (for now).

Looks promising — so your approach was to create a free offering to funnel users toward the paid products? Clever move.

Nice idea, @julien.
Can you share any metrics about:
- how many people visited this page
- how many people shared it
- how many people visited your main product?
I think engineering-as-marketing is a fantastic way of user acquisition. Kudos!-

I made a new post with some numbers of the first day (post linked to my linkeme product)

It has potential so basically your strategy was build a freebee to direct people to the paid stuff .... smart

Nice idea — i will give it a try. I just launched my own SaaS too and finding early testers has been tough. How did you get your first users or feedback?
-

I really like the idea presented, but when I tested it, it couldn’t analyse my profile 🙂 (profile extraction failed twice). But in general, I think it’s a good hook, if everything is working fine.

it's a free app, so the backend is not scalable enough , we can perform one analyse at a time. Friday was a crazy day with not far 1 user every 2 minutes, so yes you could s some problems. Just try again, you will find a spot !

Hey! I just tried your service and honestly, I can see some real potential here. The roasting part is fun, but I think you are sitting on something way bigger. What if you added actual suggestions based on the role alongside the roasts? Like, roast someone's LinkedIn profile but then give them solid tips on how to improve it. You can suggest relevant courses or certifications as well.
That would be such a cool "laugh and learn" vibe that I haven't seen anywhere else. Right now, if people just want roasting, they will probably just go to ChatGPT and ask it to roast them. But if you combine the humor with genuine helpful feedback? That's something unique.
There are honestly so many directions you could take this thing. If you want to brainstorm some ideas, I' would love to chat more about it. But even if we don't end up connecting, just wanted to say I really liked what you have built so far. Nice work!

Wow , thank you for the thoughtful comment, and honestly… you’re spot on.
The roasting angle is the hook, but you’re absolutely right: the real long-term value lies in the “laugh and learn” mix. We wanted to build something that grabs attention (and traffic) with a little punch, but under the hood, the tech already has the potential to suggest improvements based on role, seniority, and even writing tone.
We’ve actually started building an internal versions where the AI gives actionable advice (like profile summary rewrites, headline ideas, etc.), but combining that with course suggestions, certification tips, or even role-specific CTA rewrites is 🔥.
Your message just gave me a solid push in that direction. Would absolutely love to brainstorm more if you’re up for it — shoot me a DM!
And again, thanks a ton ,this kind of feedback is gold 🙏

Thank you so much for your message. I sent you a connection request on Linkedin and when you see my message there, you will know it's me. I would really love to connect. I feel like there's never been better time to make life better with technology . Looking forward to chatting with you.

I like the idea, but don't agree with all the feedback. Interesting tool though!

Thank you! 🙌
Totally fair — the feedback is intentionally a bit bold and spicy. It’s meant to spark reflection, even if not everything lands.
Glad you find the tool interesting though! We’re improving it every day — feel free to roast us back anytime 😉

Hey Julien, it was quite an insightful read. I'm trying to build an MVP myself of a CRO audit tool, but I'm not the tech guy. Do you suggest I vibe code my way into an MVP or try to get a tech guy as a co-founder and build it together?

About
Most LinkedIn profiles are carefully curated — full of buzzwords, vague titles, and humblebrags. But how does your profile really come across? LinkedInScope was born from the idea that brutal honesty is a growth tool.

Turning engagement into a second loop instead of chasing new traffic is a smart move. The roast clearly creates attention, but adding something users can act on makes the experience more complete. Curious—did you validate demand for the photo generator with existing users first, or was this more of a strategic bet to deepen retention?
This is a really smart extension.
The “roast → insight → action” flow is underrated — most tools stop at awareness, but giving users something tangible to do right after is what creates the loop.
Curious how you’re thinking about retention here long-term. Do you see people coming back mainly for repeat photos/styles, or is the roast still the primary re-entry point?
Congrats on the growth! Adding an AI Photo Generator is a brilliant move to keep users engaged. From an SEO and marketing standpoint, these kinds of 'shareable' features are gold mines for organic reach.
Have you thought about creating a dedicated landing page for the photo generator with some optimized keywords around 'AI LinkedIn headshots'? It could really help drive some fresh organic traffic from Google. Keep up the great work!"
This makes sense. People come for the roast, but eventually they want to improve their profile, not just laugh at it. Adding photos feels like a practical next step instead of forcing monetization too early. How many users actually convert after seeing the roast.
Great to see LinkedInScope building on the viral roast with something that drives more long‑term value! Turning selfies into professional‑looking headshots lowers the friction for people to update their LinkedIn, which can lead to better engagement. I'm curious how you decided on which "vibes" to include, and whether you've noticed increased sharing or retention from users who try the photo generator. Also, how do you plan to monetize the photo tool without discouraging new users?
Sound cool, goodluck!
I love also the Roast part !!! Have a great year !!
Hi, it's very nice !! shame we cannot post photo here because it's really funny !!
