The interesting part is keeping the core setup simple despite how messy email infrastructure becomes in production. The 3,000-email free tier also makes it much easier for a developer to test the full workflow before committing to another provider.

Email is still one of the most important communication channels for software products, but sending email reliably is surprisingly complicated.
