Make your screenshots instantly findable

Visit Website
September 18, 2026 Google for your screenshots, minus the part where your screenshots leave your PC

Screenshots has to be the easiest way to capture the source of truth at that moment. It costs nothing and can capture the current state in your screen. I personally take screenshots constantly. Error messages, receipts, UI references, invoices ,random things I was definitely going to need later.

At some point my Screenshots folder passed thousands of files and became a graveyard of things I knew I had saved, but could never actually find.

Windows Search wasn’t much help. It knows Screenshot 2026-03-14 091522.png exists. It doesn’t know there’s a receipt number, an error message, or some random piece of text sitting inside those pixels. It doesn't even work properly for pdfs and docs, escpecially the scanned ones.

So I built PixSift. It indexes screenshots, PDFs and documents locally and lets me search for the words actually inside them. I can type a phrase I only partially remember, find the exact screenshot, pull the text out, copy the file, or send it straight into whatever I’m already working on.

The handover overlay feature has to be my personal favorite, because I take multiple screenshots to add it to any input, be it any AI chat or to send in slack, by just clicking Ctrl+Shift+Space you can invoke a global shortcut, select those files and just drag them, this feature might look small but once you start using you will get addicted to it.

It also has visual search, so I can search by what an image looks like even when there’s no useful text in it.

And I was pretty obsessive about one thing: nothing leaves the machine. No account. No cloud uploads. No telemetry. No “AI magic” that secretly means sending your files somewhere. Disconnect the internet and PixSift keeps working because it was designed that way.

I’ve finally shipped v1.0, got it through Microsoft Store certification, and put it out into the wild. It’s $19.95 one-time, with no subscription.

And now comes the scary part:

I have zero customers.

This is the first thing I’ve ever tried to sell, so I’m basically starting from zero and figuring out whether this problem is actually as annoying to other people as it was to me. This app is compliant to anyone; any windows user who saves screenshots, professionals who has lots of scanned PDFs, support team who save screenshots often, marketing people who saves ad campaigns.

If you take screenshots of everything and regularly think “I KNOW I SAVED THIS SOMEWHERE”, I’d love to know how you deal with it.

Building in public from here.

My Screenshots folder was write-only, I saved everything and found nothing. PixSift reads what's inside them so I can search like memory. Nothing leaves my machine. Finding it in a second and handover feels addictive.
