A year ago, I thought QR menus were already a dead market.

Everyone was building the same thing:

• PDF menu uploads

• basic QR generation

• ugly templates

• no real business model

So instead of building “another QR menu app,” I started talking directly to restaurant owners.

That changed everything.

I realized restaurants didn’t actually care about QR codes.

They cared about:

• updating prices instantly

• multi-language menus for tourists

• reducing waiter friction

• looking modern without hiring developers

• controlling everything from a phone

That’s when Qroole started evolving from a simple QR menu into a restaurant operating layer.

Today we’re building:

• multi-tenant restaurant infrastructure

• instant menu management

• dynamic QR systems

• multi-language support

• restaurant microsites

• analytics

• smart customer flows

The funny part?

Most of our growth didn’t come from ads.

It came from:

• restaurant owners sharing us with each other

• local businesses seeing other venues use Qroole

• SEO pages

• organic content

• direct conversations

One unexpected lesson:
Small “boring” businesses are massively underestimated in SaaS.

A restaurant owner may never tweet about AI agents or startup culture…

…but they will happily pay every year for something that genuinely saves time.

That completely changed how I think about software businesses.

Right now we’re focused on:

• making onboarding frictionless

• improving mobile experience

• building tools restaurant owners actually use daily

• scaling globally with multi-language infrastructure

Still early.
Still learning.
Still building.

But I’m convinced there’s a huge opportunity in modernizing traditional businesses with simple software.

That’s the bet behind Qroole.

After seeing how outdated and frustrating many QR menu systems felt for restaurant owners, we decided to build Qroole.

Our goal was simple:
Create a modern, fast and easy-to-manage digital menu platform for hospitality businesses.

Qroole helps restaurants and cafes:
• create elegant QR menus,
• update products instantly,
• support multiple languages,
• and improve customer experience without printing costs.

We’re building Qroole as a bootstrapped SaaS product and would genuinely love feedback from the Indie Hackers community 🙌
