May 2021 $1,000,000 processed!

We passed $1,000,000 in payouts processed for affiliates around the world!

It was just a few short months ago that we celebrated with our team the milestone of 1,000 payouts (totaling $660,000), which took us more than a year and a half to achieve. Our current trajectory suggests we’ll be celebrating $2,000,000 in payouts before the end of Summer, 2021.

January 14, 2021 2020 year in review!

This past year has been a wild ride with some huge ups and downs. We have seen some of our biggest successes and experienced some major challenges; we sold one of our flagship products and we, along with the rest of the world, have gone through a global pandemic. As has been my tradition since 2012, I’d like to reflect back on some of the challenges, successes, and events of the past year for us.

November 13, 2020 Launched new Payouts Service website

Since it's launch, our Payouts Service has had a very basic website with zero branding and no personality. Today, after a lot of work, we've launched the new site with a complete brand. Sean, our Director of Design was solely responsible for the work start-to-finish.

September 1, 2020 Restrict Content Pro acquired by iThemes

Eight years ago Pippin built a small membership plugin for WordPress and called it Restrict Content Pro. It became the foundation for our company and led us to create numerous other products. We grew it to $500,000+ in annual revenue and now today, we have sold it to iThemes / Liquid Web.

May 8, 2020 Processed $100,000 in payouts

After launching our Payouts Service in November, 2019, we were processing $3,000-$6,000 per month in payouts. Now, a few months later we are processing $25,000+ each month.

We passed $100,000 in total processing volume earlier this week and are anticipating we'll exceed $30,000 in payouts for May with $20,690.04 already processed since May 1.

Nearly 500 websites have signed up to use the service and over 1,500 recipients have registered to be paid through it.

Congrats @pippin! I thought that was a genius idea to start that service.

I’m curious how you manage so many different products. I have about 5 right now—2 unannounced. So I’m always curious about other founders and their thoughts on how to not lose their mind trying to keep track and grow all their various projects (whether separate or under a corporate umbrella).

We have a great team at Sandhills Development. We're 26 strong now and have 2-5 people working on each project, along with several people that touch aspects of all the projects. Each project has a designated lead that is responsible for keeping the project moving.

That being said, though, we do definitely feel the strain of having many different projects. I'm very much a builder and I love to build new things. That can be a strength at times but it also really gets in the way when I find myself wanting to build something new instead of maintaining what we have. My team really helps balance that for me.

Yup, a strong team is important. I find that in a builder too. And it’s really hard when you don’t have a team outside of one project to help.

Always inspiring to see others who are making it work.

March 12, 2020 Processed $50,000 in payouts

Our Payouts Service has now processed $50,000 in payments to affiliates from store owners using our AffiliateWP.

The Payouts Service was built to solve a major need of store owners whom found it difficult to pay affiliates the commissions they've earned. It has a long way to go but it is working!

About

I built our products to scratch my own itch and solve problems I was facing in building my business. The products built to sell my products ended up being my primary products.
