EmbedSocial was born out of pure frustration... 👋 🤯
It all started with a classic "I've had enough!" moment...
Kate, our now Head of Growth, was losing her mind over the tedious process of uploading photos to Facebook and then having to re-upload them to websites.
She blurted out, "Can't we just take the photos from Facebook and put on the website?"
And that's when it hit us 💡
We thought “Maybe we could create an iframe for that." – so, we handed the task to our intern (who was still in college, by the way)...
...and before we knew it, she had created a simple tool that could generate a nice embed code for Facebook albums.
Now, here's where things took an exciting turn 👀
👉 Kate, sent an email to All Facebook (the biggest blog about Facebook platform news at the time) saying, "Hey, we're Facebook marketing partners, we made this cool thing, and we think other bloggers might find it useful."
And just like that, Facebook published it.
The news spread like wildfire, with bloggers picking it up left and right.
Suddenly, Embed Social was getting coverage in Spanish, German, and multiple languages worldwide 🗞️
People couldn't get enough of this simple tool built in the back of uni room that let them display their Facebook photos on their websites.
I mean, it was ridiculously easy to use. You'd go to androidsocial.com, paste your Facebook album link, hit generate, and voila! You'd get an iframe code. No sign-ups, no emails, just pure simplicity 👈
Before we could catch our breath, tens of thousands of albums were being created through our tool.
🤝 And that’s how EmbedSocial was born - a moment of frustration that turned into a powerful platform for managing user-generated content with over 200,000 users.
Just goes to show, sometimes the best ideas come from wanting to make life a tiny bit easier
