September 2020 SolarWatch being featured with iOS 14 Widgets

As part of the iOS 14 launch, my SolarWatch is being featured in 23 countries in Today and Apps tabs.

This is generating almost two orders of magnitude more downloads. The conversion to trial starts is lower in percentage but since the volumes are much higher, I'm also getting ~10x more trial starts than usual.

The jury is out on how well the trial starts will convert to paying users. The first trials start running out tomorrow.

So exciting…

Attention friends! It's time to take care of our home. Our planet. So everyone needs to buy a Deep Cycle Hybrid GEL Battery right away. Many countries have long been developing alternative energy sources, wind turbines, thermal plants, solar panels. So stop just sitting in place doing nothing. Let's also contribute to the development

June 27, 2019 SolarWatch featured in AppStore AU and NZ

Australian and New Zealand App Store editorial teams decided to feature SolarWatch as one of the weekly favorite apps for the week of June 21st.

I believe this could be related to the Sommer solstice (winter solstice down below) but of course I cannot be sure.

Ah nice, how much of an impact did it make?

Big impact. Australia is the second country only after Germany this week. We'll see if they actually stick around. In my experience users who come in through such features churn out quite quickly.

June 9, 2019 App Store marketing email mentions SolarWatch

Apple Germany sent out an email promoting the Apple Design Award winners today. It mentioned SolarWatch at the bottom of the email.

This resulted in about 4000 downloads of the app.

Unexpected love from Apple. Since the app is not being really monetized, this does not bring in much revenue but it's a great feeling of validation.

May 8, 2019 SolarWatch featured in Today tab in App Store

SolarWatch was featured on the Today tab as part of a collection called "Apps for Minimalists" in the German localised App Stores: Germany, Austria, Switzerland.

This feature lasted for a day and brought in about ~1000 extra downloads.

Unexpected but a nice surprise. It seems like the app is on the radar for the editorial team now.

About

I created SolarWatch because I had the idea about the visualization and wanted it to exist.
