As indie hackers, we often fall into the trap of building thin wrappers around AI APIs. I wanted to build something different: a product that provides genuine emotional value and psychological support, disguised as a modern, beautifully designed utility.

That led me to build TarotYet—a platform that reimagines traditional tarot reading using context-aware AI.

When I analyzed the SEO data, I realized people aren't searching for generic tarot definitions. They are searching for empathy, clarity, and answers to deep, personal anxieties (mostly at 2 AM). Here is how I mapped my product features directly to these high-intent user needs:

1. The "Love & Relationship" Engine (High Conversion) The most desperate searches are always about relationships. Instead of a generic spread, I built a dedicated Love Tarot Reading suite. It tackles specific, highly-searched anxieties like "what is he thinking?" or "relationship future." The AI acts as an empathetic sounding board, analyzing the relationship dynamics rather than just spitting out static card meanings.

2. Interactive AI Tarot (The Differentiator) Traditional sites force you to read a 2,000-word blog post to understand one card. Our core AI Tarot feature flips this. You ask a specific question, draw the cards, and the AI synthesizes the archetypes of the cards with the exact context of your situation, delivering a deeply personalized reading.

3. Instant Clarity for Decision Fatigue For users who just need a quick nudge, the online yes or no tarot reading tool provides immediate answers. But unlike a coin flip, it explains the why behind the Yes or No based on the card drawn.

4. Psychic Chat & Journaling (Retention Hooks) To move beyond a "one-and-done" utility, I implemented a Psychic Chat for continuous emotional guidance, and a Journal feature where users can save their readings and track their emotional journey over time.

I'm bootstrapping this solo using Next.js, Supabase, and AI models fine-tuned for empathetic responses.

2. For B2C apps driven by emotional needs, what retention strategies have worked best for you?
