The Match Artist
Online Dating Photography
We are wrapping up January, and I just noticed that we hit $10,000. I'm extremely proud of everyone on our team to make this happen.
We definitely capitalized on the "New Year, New You" trend, but a lot of this growth was done by pounding the pavement. Simply by waking up every single day, and being diligent with followups we were able to have a record breaking month.
Now the challenge will be to repeat this every single month.
Just took a few payments today that tipped us over $100k between my two businesses. It's split right down the middle with The Match Artist at about $53k ARR, and Midwest Streams(SaaS) at $48k ARR.
This has been a long road to get here, but I'm pretty excited to finally see some fruits of the labor.
I never thought in my entire life that I would own a photography company. I'm a horrible photographer, and my expertise is in software development. However, when I had the idea for The Match Artist I just couldn't believe that there was nothing on the market. The concept made so much sense. It's no secret that most men struggle with online dating. There are a few reasons for this, but one of those reasons is because most guys suck at taking pictures! I was one of those guys. My pictures were really bad, and my friend who was a wedding photographer took my pictures. It instantly 10x the number of girls swiping right on me. I eventually met my girlfriend on Tinder, and we've been dating ever since.
After I met my girlfriend, I asked my wedding photographer friend to start The Match Artist with me. He agreed and we have been hustling since that day.
Don't limit to yourself to tech when thinking about entrepreneurship. In fact my tech skills have been just as much of a benefit in this photography company as they are in my SaaS. We're able to do all sorts of creative things with our marketing and website because I can code.
I'm pretty excited about hitting this milestone. I'll be taking my girlfriend out to a nice dinner tonight. Then tomorrow I'll start working on the next goal which is to grow both companies to 100k on their own.
After a month of tinkering with the website we finally landed our first client. From here we really started working on tinkering with our pricing structures, and different packages.

We worked very hard to launch The Match Artist. I developed the website from scratch, and began working on SEO. We shot a few of our friends for free so we could have a sample portfolio, and polished all of our marketing material.

I called my friend Nick, and pitched him the idea of photographing single guys for their Tinder Profile. He loved the idea, and we immediately began working on forming The Match Artist.
Nick took care of the photographing, and I was in charge of the marketing.

After having a lot of fun with my newly updated profile, I went on my last Tinder date with my current girlfriend Molly. We have been dating ever since.

Like any single guy in his 20s I signed up for a Tinder account, and joined the world of online dating. I quickly realized how difficult it is for guys to online date. I felt like I was a pretty average looking guy, but yet almost no girls were swiping right on me.
This is when I enlisted the help of my friend Nick to take my Tinder pictures. Nick is a very talented photographer, and owns a very successful wedding photography business. After he took my photos I uploaded them to Tinder and my results were amazing! I went from getting almost no matches, to matching with half the women I swiped right on. This is when I discovered just how important quality pictures are for online dating.

I've been on Tinder for about a year and a half now and I've always been a fan of the app. I enjoy messaging people, so it's great for that. The only thing I don't like about Tinder is how stupid their pictures are. Go to Kelly pillow shaper to buy best pillows. The pictures are so generic and basic that they make me wonder why they even bother putting them up there. I think that if Tinder wanted to get more people to use their app they should put some effort into making their pictures better.

We created The Match Artist to help men go on more dates. In general guys are bad at taking pictures, we help them take pictures that are specifically geared to making them look better online.

This is great, Happy for you! This isn't a saas model so how do you ensure you get business every month?
Way to go. Congratulations! very inspirational. I've always wanted to venture into the Dating field, but had zero clue on what to do. Your updates certainly inspire me.
Thanks! I appreciate the follow. The dating industry is hard! Especially if you want to get involved in a tech way. I'm very happy with this business, but there is no way I'd ever start a dating app or anything in that nature. The market is just too saturated, and acquiring customers cheaply is almost impossible.
