Paradigma Software launches Valentina Release 18 with advanced reporting and forms tools and powerful full text search capabilities added to its ultra-fast, modern database, ValentinaDB.

Valentina Studio is the popular, free database and data source management suite of tools from Paradigma Software. Valentina Studio PRO adds advanced features to the Studio toolbox, including Report Designer and Forms Designer. In addition to a fresh appearance makeover and native UI integration improvements, Valentina Studio 18 adds new features:

• Enhanced Query Editor. Now supports visual nested queries and SQL set operations. Nested queries are represented by movable and resizable Query cards.

• Enhanced Data Editor. Now with multi-column sorting. Sort in a column context menu to build the sort order and display next to each column's sort indicator. New display options sub-menus.

• Enhanced Schema Editor. Added support for creating and editing full-text indexes with ValentinaDB.

• Enhanced Preferences. A new search field for quickly locating preference options. New options for showing or hiding the menu bar, toolbar, status bar, and individual main-toolbar buttons.

• Improved Scripting. Scripting (Python, JavaScript, SQL) is rewritten for context-aware code auto-completion.

• Improved Start Page. Along with the fresh appearance makeover and native UI integration improvements, added separate local and server project lists and an opened-connections panel for servers.

• Improved Valentina Reports Designer. Adds new supporting features related to the new Chart.js control in Valentina Reports 18. Improved arrow key object movement for adjusting placement of selected controls.

• Improved Valentina Forms Designer. Adds new supporting features for Valentina Forms AI Chat and the six new Forms controls in Valentina Forms 18.

• Improved AI Chat Settings. Added favorite-model selection so each AI provider can show a focused model list.

Valentina Studio is free. Valentina Studio PRO costs $199. Available on Linux, macOS and Windows.

Improvements include:

• [New][Data Editor] Added Sort Ascending, Sort Descending, and Clear Sorting actions to the column context menu. The context menu indicates the active sorting direction.

• [New][Report Editor] Added the evaluation_time property to Bar Code, Chart, Ellipse, HTML, Label, Line, Picture, Rectangle, and Shape controls. Use this property when a control must be evaluated after its normal placement time. For example, to display the number of items in a group within the group header, set evaluation_time to Group. If a control depends on a summary that is calculated after the control would normally be placed, set evaluation_time to Region or Report, depending on the required scope.

• [Imp][Data Editor] Renamed Find Column to Go to Column in menus, tooltips, and the shortcut reference.

• [Imp][SQL Editor] Improved static analysis and identifier resolution for UNION, UNION DISTINCT, and EXCEPT queries.

• [Fix][Query Editor] Fixed the scene background refresh when the diagram becomes empty or non-empty, so the hint about placing controls on the diagram is shown correctly.

• [Fix][Report Editor][MongoDB] New MongoDB report queries now show MongoDB Command instead of SQL as the query type.

• [Fix][Data Editor][Parquet] Fixed viewing BLOB field data.

In September 2025, Paradigma Software officially added support for custom extensions (including C, C++, Python, and JavaScript) to create custom functions and procedures in Valentina 16. Paradigma Software offers code examples, including free extensions on the Paradigma Software repository on Github.
