WhatIfCoinMarketcap

One year on WhatIfCoinMarketCap.com has had over 5200 submissions and growing. It has been slow organic growth as I am currently putting time into other products but overall I am happy with it.

I was not looking to monetise the service, I just released it as a free tool that might be useful for someone. I've setup a donation option if people want to buy me a coffee (with crypto) but other than that it shall remain free to use.

After getting some feedback from users I worked on adding more useful functionality. The new function, the Rank comparison has been more used that the original alphabetical comparison, so it proved a great move to spend a bit of time to add it in there.

While working on the product I used it as an excuse to learn/extend my knowledge of some coding languages. It was a part time effort and I was pretty happy that I managed to get it planned and completed it fairly quickly (with very little spare time to dedicate to it). After hooking it up to twitter to help drive awareness and growth I quietly launched it.

Some friends and I when speaking about cryptocurrency found ourselves asking questions like "What if Ontology was in the Top 5, how much would 1000 be worth?" or "What if Litecoin had the market cap of Bitcoin, how much would 100 be worth?".

Being tired of calculating all the time I thought it would be good to make something to do the hard work. I also thought others might be interested too.
