Most people on Indie Hackers are building SaaS, AI tools, or consumer apps.
Meanwhile… I’m building medium-voltage vacuum contactors.

Yes — the “very unsexy” components hidden inside switchgear, factories, power grids, and industrial automation systems. They don’t go viral. They don’t trend on social media. But they absolutely matter for keeping electricity stable and equipment safe.

Over the past few years, my team and I have been manufacturing VCBs, vacuum interrupters, transformers, and now a full line of MV vacuum contactors. Our customers are utilities, switchgear OEMs, and engineering teams around the world.

So why build something like this?

🟦 1. Industrial infrastructure is outdated

Many components used in factories and substations were designed decades ago.
Reliability expectations today are much higher — but many suppliers haven’t changed.

🟦 2. A small failure can create huge losses

A contactor that fails during switching can shut down a production line, damage motors, or cause hours of downtime.
I believe industrial companies deserve better quality and transparency.

🟦 3. There’s almost no storytelling or community in this space

Engineers usually just buy whatever the catalog says.
But behind every “boring component,” there are people trying to build something reliable and meaningful.
