April 19, 2026 🎬 I built a free Chrome extension to finally organize my YouTube playlists β€” here's how it works

I watch a lot of YouTube. And over time I ended up with playlists scattered everywhere, saved in random browser bookmarks or just lost entirely.

So I built a small Chrome extension to fix exactly that. It's calledΒ YouTube Playlists Manager Light, it's completely free, and it does one thing well: it lets you save, organize, and instantly open any YouTube playlist from your browser toolbar.

What it does

πŸ“‹ Save any playlist in seconds Paste a YouTube URL β€” playlist link, video link, or even a raw playlist ID β€” give it a name, and it's saved. No account, no login, no setup.

πŸ–Ό Visual thumbnails pulled automatically Every saved playlist shows its thumbnail fetched from YouTube, so your list looks like an actual media library instead of a wall of text links.

πŸ—‚ Groups with color coding This is the feature I'm most happy with. You can create named groups β€” Learning, Music, Gaming, Work, whatever β€” assign a color, and organize your playlists into them. A filter bar lets you switch between groups with one click.

πŸš€ One click to open Click the thumbnail or the playlist name β†’ YouTube opens instantly. That's it.

πŸ”’ 100% local, zero tracking Everything is stored in Chrome's local storage. No servers, no analytics, no data collection of any kind. Your playlists never leave your device.

It's free. No plans to charge.

I built this for myself and figured others might find it useful. There are no paid tiers, no "pro" features, no email capture. Just install and use it.

About

I have many playlists that I watch, so I decided I need an app to store them and access them with one click.
