Why I’ve built a free platform to share online subscriptions

It’s called Share-Accounts.com

The idea came to me when I wanted to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion.
The individual plan costs €40 per year, but I realized that if you join a family account, it only comes out to €8.75. That’s almost five times cheaper!

So I googled around to find people to share the subscription with… and I did find a few platforms that help you connect with others. But there was a catch: all of them took a commission. That meant you weren’t actually saving as much as you could.

That’s when I asked myself:
Why not build a platform that helps people find other people who are also looking to save on their subscriptions, with no added fees?

So I decided to create it myself.

How does it work?

Super easy:

• Got a subscription with extra spots? List it.

• Want to join someone else's plan? Find a match and reach out.

• The platform connects you both so you can talk and agree on the details.

Important: The site does not handle payments or passwords. Everything is discussed directly between users. We just help you find each other.

Why not just use Sharingful or similar sites?

Services like Sharingful are well-designed, but they charge a fee just for putting you in touch with others.
My goal was to create a completely free alternative, with no commissions, no hidden costs, no premium tiers.

Just a simple way to connect with others who want to share the same subscriptions as you, with 100% of the savings going into your pocket.

A personal, non-profit project

I built Share-Accounts as a personal side project to learn and experiment with some technologies I was interested in.
I don’t make money from it:

• No ads

• No fees

• No shady upsells

That said, there are ways to support the project, both financially and technically:

• You can donate to help cover server costs

• I’ve also set up a small merch shop

• You can contribute with suggestions, bug reports, or simply by spreading the word

Everything helps, and it's completely voluntary. I’d love for the site to become genuinely useful to people.
