We started by identifying our ideal users and their problems. Then, we reached out directly through social media, forums, and networking. We offered free trials, gathered feedback, and improved our product. Word of mouth and referrals helped spread the word. We created valuable content to attract interest. Engaging with early adopters built trust. Running small promotions encouraged sign-ups. We listened, adapted, and focused on delivering real value. Slowly, our first 10 paying users came in, proving that persistence and customer focus work!

Great list, definitely includes some things we haven't thought of yet. Thank you! Wishing you luck on your launch and excited to learn more from your journey!

Than you, glad you find it useful

This is a solid breakdown—thanks for sharing! We’re launching too, and it’s crazy how much early feedback shapes everything. Totally agree on doubling down when you find something that works. The cross-launch and collab ideas are 🔥—definitely taking notes on that! Best of luck on the launch and growth!

Love the soft launch aspect. I am in the process of launching an Ai powered golf app (I wont delve into details) and contacting users/partners with an offer could well drive it forward.
Cheers

oh thanks so much! I have sellvia online store and was thinking how to get more customers. now I think the problem was in social media cuz my accounts now are crazy boring. gotta improve them and start and ads there

Thank you for this. This is really good and informative. It gives me a better insight on something I've launched and work on for acquiring paying users as well.

Glad you find it useful :)

2
Very informative, thanks! Could you elaborate on the no-brainer offer?
-
1
Thank you, No brainer price is like giving the product close to 50-70% discount to the value or to the competitor price (market rate) so price wont be a barrier to get early users.

That's amazing! When the MRR reaches $10,000, the ARR has increased by 30%. These figures are extremely impressive! Besides, in your SaaS toolchain, how do you manage customer data security? Also, when it comes to payment processing, Square vs PayPal? In your experience, which one integrates better with SaaS platforms?
-
1
Usually if you have open positions, It brings you a lot views from candidates and some just end liking the product.

Very helpful. Thanks!
I'm particularly interested in hearing about experiences with launching on Product Hunt. Did you find it a good way to gain traction or upvotes?
By the way, should we consider adding G2 or Capterra to the launch list?-
1
PH is one of the best launch platform for SaaS products. And few things you can keep in mind while planning to launch:
Be active on the PH community 1-2 weeks before the launch
Create great visuals/demo video for the launch
Share your launch details/ updates on socials and on communities which you are part of.
Don't forget to add testimonials on your website before launching.
Have some audience either an email list or social media so people can support you in the initial hours of the launch otherwise your product wont get featured. But will get a good backlink from it.
Though Boringlaunch is not a SaaS, but these are few of my learnings from the past launches.
Both G2 and Capterra are good platforms but there are not a launch pad. You can add your product there to get a good backlink.

What kind of startups do boringlaunch accept? Does it accept general ecommerce websites selling physical products?
-
1
We submit AI and SaaS products (including APIs, boilerplates, directories, etc.). We don’t have a relevant list of platforms for e-commerce websites, so Boringlaunch won’t be helpful for you.

Thanks for the list. We’re definitely looking into these platforms when we launch our new tool for devs.

What about service based startup? Any advice for them?
-
1
You can launch them too, there is no such restriction except Betalist
-
-
2
Do you launch in all of these at the same time or do you stagger it?
-
1
Launch on one or two platforms initially, then iterate your product based on feedback and response before launching to other platforms.
-
-
2
We did small launch test on uneed – not that much of results gained, but for sure was nice to have a badge and that way look more trustworthy as a new app. Didn’t cost that much to pass the queue so  from me.

I was exactly looking for something like this.
I have a product to launch, but I want to make it open source. It's a kind of dev-tool used by backend developers to quickly generate code that they would otherwise have to do manually using CLI commands.
I've always wanted to create something that can improve the DevEx. Do you have any suggestions that I should keep in mind? I would love to hear your inputs.
-

Thanks Kartik, for your open source dev tool, you can add it on https://osssoftware.org/ and https://devhunt.org/
Plus if you are interested in Do it for you service, we can submit your product to 50+ platforms.

Thank you for sharing! I can't wait to get shadow .do up on these sites as well. How many users did you get from each site?
-

It depends upon the product and the initial response from the community.
-
-
2
I’ve published my new product in a few of them and already got some users.

Hey everyone! I’m excited to share something I’ve been working on that could make a big difference in social media shopping. It’s called KuwarPay—a payment solution I created after experiencing the frustration of clunky checkouts and abandoned carts.
With KuwarPay, shopping from your favorite social media platforms is super easy! Just click the link in a post, checkout securely, and pay through PhonePe. Plus, you get exclusive discounts along the way!
I’d love to hear what you all think! What features would make your social media shopping experience unforgettable? What are some of the challenges you face when trying to buy online? Your feedback means the world to me and will help shape KuwarPay into something truly special. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!" This version aims to create a friendly tone and connect with readers personally. Feel free to tweak it further if needed!

"Spend 10x the time to validate problems; spend 1x the time to validate the solution. " - super !

A refreshing article with practical advice for budding entrepreneurs. What stands out is the need to validate user needs before diving into solution building. These are simple but crucial lessons, especially around persevering through growth phases and not striving for perfection from the start. Inspiring and helpful!

Thanks.
To validate the problem, we looked for signals on social media, talked to potential customers over DM.
We observed that finding platforms and submitting your product would require some effort and time. Even if the platforms are known, each platform had different requirements, such as product details, logo size, pricing details, etc.
Based on the feedback and research we got our first validation that that people were looking to list their products on as many platforms as they can. And this will save at least 20+ hours of searching and submission time. Hence we assumed that people will be happy to pay for the Done For You submission service.
So we created a simple landing page with a no code tool and to validate it quickly, we created early bird offers for the first 10 users.
Then we started engaging with founders on twitter and recommended our solution wherever we felt it can add value.DMed founders who were already looking for platforms or doing submission on platforms.
And our early slots were sold within a week.-

brilliant move! agree with the different platform has it's unique characteristic. we've been contacting some of our target users but have no luck to get response on twitter. do you have any suggestions on how to do it? do you use cold messages? or do you make use of some tools to reach out in scale?

which platforms? Can you share 2-3?

You can check a few platforms on our website, but the complete list is accessible to paid users only.

No 4 is my favorite "If you don’t know where to find the first 10 users, don’t build anything. "
-
1
This was great info, especially #4 - If you don’t know where to find the first 10 users, don’t build anything.
In Nov 2023, we started collecting AI directories to launch Boringlaunch (a directory submission service). We managed to collect 100+ platforms within a month.
But we were not sure how much DR and traffic users would get from these submissions.
So we quickly build a landing page of Boringlaunch with Softr, set up a payment system with Gumroad, and a details form with TallyForms and we try to keep our offering super simple:
- We will submit your product on 60+ platforms in 7 days at a 70% discount.
- We don’t guarantee any results.
- We will share a detailed report outlining each platform where your product has been submitted, not live.
We reached out to our previous productized service users and a few potential customers over DM, as we thought they might not trust our service but they would trust us.
And wohoooo, they loved it 🙏
Within 72 hours, we got our first sale, and our early slots were sold out within a week.
We were over the moon, Boringlaunch, got validated 🥳
But after a few laughs, we thought we now have to increase the price. Otherwise, it would not be ethical with the early adopters who trusted us, but we didn’t know how good the results would be for our users.
So we simply removed the discount and stopped reaching out to people so that we could focus on submissions for our early users.
Once we submitted for a couple of users, we discovered 4 things:
- A couple of platforms are not working or not that good.
2.Few platforms have moved to paid listings from free listings. - Some directories will take months to get approved.
- Some products are already listed on directories.
We somehow managed to submit most of the products of our early users on 60+ platforms, but for a couple of products, we barely touched the 50 platforms. So we reached out to them and apologized, stating that we would submit their product on 20+ additional platforms within a week, but currently, we were only able to do 50.
And guess what, they were okay with that.
So we started collecting new platforms ASAP, and within a week, we collected 50+ platforms and did the submissions for our early users.
Then we shared a detailed report with them and asked for a testimonial.
After that we updated our offering to a submission service on 75+ platforms and added few testimonials on the website, and we got 2 sales within 24 hours.
And that was the day we decided we would never stop collecting good platforms, no matter what. As we don't want to repeat the same mistake again.

Till today, we have collected 400+ platforms and directories, but we still offer a 100+ platform service both for AI and non-AI SaaS products as we keep updating our list every week and submit products based on the relevance of the customer’s industry and niche.
If you are still reading, thanks for your time🙏

We noticed that many founders struggled to boost SEO and visibility for new products. PH launch alone wasn't effective for most of us. Since we couldn’t find a good solution, we created one: Boringlaunch.

Bookmarked it, going to try this for my product. Thanks for sharing!
glad it helped :)
Smart and scrappy. New features are often overlooked and you made the first playbook.
I love exploring new features :)
Smart angle. Founders often think they need a full launch to create visibility, but this shows how positioning + clarity = traction.
I work with teams mid-build and visibility gaps usually reflect planning gaps. Bookmarking this approach.
Thanks! Glad it helped 😊
I have also failed launching my product in PH. I have always been a developer and and new to building something for my own. Man, getting the product to the people is something big which i am still exploring. Thanks for idea, will try.
Just curious, how is the traction for your product now?
Thanks! Glad it helped 😊
Its mix on one post i got good traction on other i barely got any, but worthy trying it
That’s actually genius — never thought of using the forum to get visibility before launching.
I’m building a super tiny side project around mindset books (weekly insights). Might try something similar soon. Appreciate the breakdown!
Thanks for the kind words, happy to hear it was useful!
